Westenergie Sporthalle is located in the direct vicinity of the city center of Muelheim an der Ruhr and can be reached quickly and easily thanks to very good connections to the large neighboring cities of Duisburg, Essen and Oberhausen. There is a connection to the A3, A40 and A52 highways.

There are three airports in the area with national and international connections. We recommend traveling via Dusseldorf Airport (best connection to the venue).

The onward journey to Muelheim an der Ruhr can be made by public transport or car/taxi. The organization team of the Winter Dance Festival also offers individual shuttle transfers on demand and according to availability, which are carried out by volunteers.

Arrival by public transport

The Westenergie Sporthalle can be reached from Mülheim (Ruhr) main station in a few minutes by tram line 112 (3 min.) or on foot (900 m / 10 min.). Directly in front of the Westenergie Sporthalle is the stop “Sportzentrum Südstr. (RWE RR Sporthalle)” of the tran line 112.

Train – Mülheim (Ruhr) main station
Mülheim (Ruhr) Hbf is connected to regional trains (RE/S) and long-distance trains (IC/ICE). From here, take tram line 112 or walk to Westenergie Sporthalle in just 10 minutes: Through Forum City Mülheim to the lower level (exit Kaiserplatz) and then left up Kaiserstraße. The venue is on the left after 900 m. 

Tram – Sportzentrum Südstr. (RWE RR sports hall)
From Mülheim main station, take tram line 112 from the “Kaiserplatz” stop in the direction of “Mülheim Hauptfriedhof” to “Sportzentrum Südstr. (RWE RR Sporthalle)”. From this stop you can already see the Westenergie Sporthalle. From the hotel “Holiday Inn Express Mülheim-Ruhr” the tram line 112 starts at the stop “Stadtmitte” directly in front of the hotel.

Train strike

Train services will be affected throughout Germany on Friday, 8 Dec 2023 due to the train strike. Experience has shown that there will also be some cancellations and delays on Saturday, 9 Dec 2023.

Arrival by car

There are about 360 free parking spaces available in the immediate vicinity of the Westenergie Sporthalle. Of course, there are also sufficient parking spaces for people with disabilities directly in front of the hall.

From the direction of Düsseldorf:
Highway junction Breitscheid (A3/A52), exit Mülheim an der Ruhr, “Kölner Straße” (B1) towards Mülheim an der Ruhr, after approx. 9 km turn left onto “Werdener Weg”, the sports hall is located after another 800 m on the right-hand side.

From direction Essen via highway A40:
Highway A40, exit Mülheim-Heißen/Zentrum, B1 (Essener Straße) direction Mülheim an der Ruhr, after approx. 3 km turn right onto “Werdener Weg”, the sports hall is located after another 800 m on the right hand side.

From direction Essen via highway A52:
Highway A52, exit Essen-Kettwig, via “Zeppelinstraße”, “Werdener Weg” in the direction of Mülheim an der Ruhr, the sports hall is on the right after approx. 8.5 km.

Changed traffic routing

Due to construction work on “Südstr.” and “Kämpchenstr.”, there will be one-way traffic around the venue. Detours are signposted.
